Install Bible Notes on your Home Screen (PWA)
Bible Notes ships as a progressive web app (PWA). That means you can install it from the browser: it gets an icon on your Home Screen or in your app launcher and often opens in its own window, similar to a store app, without us shipping a separate binary through an app store.
What you get when you install
- A shortcut you can open from your Home Screen or taskbar.
- A standalone window on many platforms (fewer browser chrome distractions).
- The same account, notes, and editor you already use in the tab.
Installing does not download a different product. It is still the website, just easier to open.
One-tap install (Chrome, Edge, and many Android browsers)
On desktop Chrome or Edge, and on Android with a Chromium-based browser, the site can expose an Add to Home Screen or Install action when installability rules are satisfied (HTTPS, a web manifest, and a registered service worker). When that happens, you may see:
- An install icon in the address bar, or
- A button on this page (below) that opens the browser’s install dialog.
If you do not see the button, use the browser menu: look for Install Bible Notes, Install app, or Add to Home Screen (wording varies by version).
iPhone and iPad (Safari)
Safari does not support the same programmatic install button. Use Share, then Add to Home Screen. That still creates a Home Screen icon that opens the site in a focused view.
After you install
Updates ship when you use the site: there is no separate app store update step. If something looks stale, try opening the site once in a normal browser tab so the latest version can load.
Honest limits
We do not promise offline editing or background sync yet. Install is mainly about quick access and a calmer full-screen shell.
